Wasserhelden is a start-up with a refreshingly new concept-mineral water
It is an umbrella brand that unites many regional fountains. The goal is to sell sustainable mineral water that is environmentally and climate-friendly. In many places, it can already be found in supermarkets and beverage markets. The “Heldenwasser” is therefore always regional, comes in a returnable glass bottle, and is available in the Classic, Medium, and Natural varieties.
Mineral water from the region
More & more consumers want to shop with a clear conscience and do something for the environment and climate protection without having to do anything. The water heroes offer exactly the right product here. The sustainable concept is pursued across the entire value chain. It starts with the packaging. The heroic water is filled in returnable glass bottles from the German Fountain Cooperative, which can be reused up to 50 times. In contrast, a returnable PET bottle can only be reused up to 25 times. The labels made of 100 percent recycled paper are also designed to be environmentally friendly. The mineral water from the water heroesis was cleverly packaged from the bottom of the bottle to the lid and was therefore also awarded the Blue Environment Angel.
Short transport routes from the region well to the consumer can significantly reduce CO2 emissions. On top of that, the water heroes are involved in ecological and social projects.
200 regional mineral springs in Germany
When buying groceries, consumers have long been paying more attention to regionality. There is still no sign of this trend in the drinks market and especially in the case of mineral water. In Germany, there are more than 200 mineral springs and more than 500 mineral waters. However, when it comes to mineral water, consumers make their purchasing decisions based on other criteria, such as price, carbon dioxide content, packaging, or because a mineral spring is a good marketing approach.
Far too few consumers ask where the mineral water comes from. This is a pity, especially with mineral water. This is because the regional waters have a characteristic taste that arises from the fact that the water flows through different layers of rock in each region.
It can be really fun to find out what the local water tastes like. What minerals does it taste like? Is it sourer or sweeter?
Support environmental and climate protection
The concept of the water heroes is aimed at customers for whom sustainability, environmental protection, and climate protection are central issues when shopping. Numerous studies show that there are more and more of them, especially in the drinks sector. This can be observed in the fact that the sales figures for PET bottles are falling, and customers are increasingly turning to regional products. The water heroes understood the consumers and delivered exactly what they wanted. Products must come from the region, be sustainable and of good quality, and at a fair price.
The partner companies of the water heroes include 4 mineral springs throughout Germany, such as Vilsa in the north of the republic. Further talks with new potential partners are ongoing. Sales are always close to the fountain, which guarantees short delivery routes and a nationwide presence. With every kilometer not covered, the water heroes protect the environment and climate.
The returnable glass bottle has several advantages.
The water heroes comply with stricter limits than the Mineral and Table Water Ordinance (MTVO) stipulates. Consequently, only the returnable glass bottle came into question, as it not only represents the most sustainable option but also reliably protects in order to maintain the high standard. Glass is inert and does not participate in certain chemical processes. The material does not release any substances into the contents. The water remains as pure as when it was bottled and always tastes fresh from the spring. The frequent reusability is also a real ecological advantage compared to other types of packaging.
Water heroes show commitment to environmental and social projects.
It is not enough for the water heroes to sell their hero water in sustainable packaging via climate-friendly distribution channels. That is why they support climate and social projects worldwide, such as the agroforestry project Treedom. The holistic approach of the project involves the rural population in the planting of useful trees and takes both ecological and social aspects into account. The motto is: “Hand in hand to the Heroes’ Forest.” A total of 10,000 trees are to be planted in Kenya in cooperation with Treedom, which will then grow together to form the Heroes’ Forest in the future. The trees reduce the CO 2 in the atmosphere and, at the same time, help local farmers who can harvest and sell their fruit.
Above all, the water heroes also support local projects, such as in Hamburg, where the company is based. As part of the “Heroes of the Region” project, the water heroes are committed to local volunteers, supporting regional initiatives, and giving local heroes a helping hand. In Hamburg, for example, together with the Fleetenkiekern, they cleared the Alster of garbage.
The Wasserhelden brand is an overall concept that takes ecological, economic, and social aspects into account. Much more can be achieved in cooperation than with a single well.
